This past week in ISM was very important. I had my final presentation night in which I gave my final presentation speech to my family. Some of my friends stopped by as well to cheer me on as well. Overall, I felt very accomplished and satisfied with my final product and my final presentation as it was the amalgamation of all of my ISM work over this school year. The final presentation night showed me that I am capable of more than I thought I was in that I gave a long speech over a topic that I researched primarily on my own and that I came up with. It showed me that I have the ability to create something as in-depth as the final product and incorporate that into a speech as well as the fact that I have the ability to complete research and complete research papers. Looking back over this school year, ISM allowed me to track my growth and the skills that I gained along the way. Considering the fact that I will be going to college soon, ISM has given me a significant head start for my future in medicine in college. I am very excited to see what happens next in my academic career!

This past week in ISM I focused on finalizing my final product and other developments to finish up my ISM journey. The deadline for my final product was April 16th, so I finished up my set-up and completion summary as well as my final product by that day. I also finished additional work such as my final product proposal, and I attached the other documents necessary for the completion of my final product. Another big advancement was the completion of my dress rehearsal speech on Wednesday. This speech in particular was different in that it was the first speech I had to give in person which was much harder than the speeches that were online. I had to rehearse more because I only had one chance to get it right. Unfortunately, there is no presentation night at the star this year, so after the final presentation night at the school, my ISM journey will be complete. I was looking forward to being able to give a presentation at the star, but this way is also a nice way to conclude the year. I felt confident and content with my final product and believe that I performed quality research, and I will carry this research even after ISM.
This past week in ISM, I made sure to work on my final product and finalize it. Quickly approaching, I have to complete my final product by Wednesday of this week seeing as my final product dress rehearsal speech is then. While the actual final product presentation night is April 27th, I hope to finalize my final product by Wednesday and soon, I hope to get official approval from my mentor of my final product. I did not have as much time as other students to spend talking to my mentor and going over my final product idea and how I wished to go about it; however, Dr. Kamili is very knowledgeable and I will make the best use of the limited time I have with her. Additionally, this past week, I was able to complete my final product invitations that will be sent out really soon. Also, I completed my program which will be used during the final presentation night. I mainly focused on completing my final product and compiling additional research this past weekend. I am excited and also nervous for the upcoming weeks as I will be able to demonstrate the culmination of my ISM work from the whole year.
This past week in ISM, I did a decent amount of preparation for my final presentation night, which I am pretty sure is confirmed to take place in person. I am about to create my classroom plan, in which I detail how my final presentation night will commence. It will have information about me and my mentor as well as additional information about my journey. I am looking forward to the final presentation night because then I will be able to showcase all my work so far and detail my progress. Also, it will be in person so I will not have to record a video and will be able to give a quality speech in person. Additionally, I will work on updating my digital portfolio with all my blogs and the other work that I have done so far as it is still not updated. I will continue to work on my final product and finalize it as it is due at the end of April. I need to have my final product ready for my dress rehearsal speech which is a little earlier than the actual final presentation due date. I am excited to finally present all of my work thusfar.
This week in ISM, I worked on my progress towards finishing my final product. I continued talking to my mentor over the next steps for compiling my research into an analysis for my final product. My current issue that I have been facing is how I will implement diagnosing methods in hospitals. Additionally, I do not know if it will be possible to get hospitals to accept the methods; if not, then I may just have to create an idea of the methods for my product. I plan to see if that is a potential course of action this week or if I will have to change my final product. While I do this research, I looked into the effectiveness of other diagnosing methods as well as the use of EEG signals and their potential use in Parkinson's Disease correlation as well as other information that could aid my final product. I hope to meet with my mentor more and talk to her about my final product as once I finish my final product, she can give me criticisms on how to change it. For now, I am aiming to finish my final product within the next two weeks and have it ready for the presentation night.
This past week in ISM, I made a couple of progressions in my mentorship and overall journey. This past week, I transitioned into face-to-face learning; therefore, I had to deal with some schedule changes as well as a different ISM class. Additionally, I talked with my mentor further, and I am completing the initial mentor information and other requirements necessary. I am confident Dr. Kamili will be an excellent mentor in the next couple of weeks as I complete my final product. I was planning on completing the mentor bio page and the other requirements in order to start visiting with her. This past week, we did not have any research or interview assessments so I continued my own research on my product. As far as my plan for the next couple of weeks is concerned, I plan on completing further research for my final product and eventually finalizing it. I, still, am not sure of how the final product presentations will be held. If it is through a pre-recorded session, I will be able to perfect my recording and not have to give a potentially lower quality speech. Regardless, I will showcase my knowledge that I learned in my area of study through the help of my mentor.
This past week in ISM, I made a couple of advancements in my journey. This past week was spring break, so I did not have my actual ISM class. The most important progression over spring break was the fact that I obtained a mentor. Dr. Kamili, who is also a family friend, is esteemed in her field of cardiology and is very knowledgeable. I know that she will be able to offer me significant insights into the medical field and will aid me greatly in my journey towards my final product. Considering Dr. Kamili is a family friend, we already have a foundation set for our mentorship. This will allow the mentorship process to go smoothly, effectively allowing her to convey her criticisms to me and allowing me to adjust my final product accordingly. I also completed a research assessment which I believe was my last. I also created a list of people to send out invites to for my final product presentation consisting of friends, family, and teachers, etc. I am not fully sure of the medium in which the final product presentations will be held: through a pre-recorded video, or a live zoom presentation, or in person. Regardless, I hope to make a high-quality product at the end of my ISM journey.
This past week in ISM, I furthered my progress towards my final product as well as for gaining a mentor. First, I interviewed another medical professional. As a result of my delayed search for finding a mentor, I have found a family friend who is a doctor who would be willing to be my mentor that I may choose to be my mentor if the search persists. Although she does not focus on neurology, she could offer me significant insight due to the fact that she is a medical professional. Within the next week, I will decide on a mentor. In my research interview, I was able to learn from a professional who specializes in neurovascular care. I was able to learn about the nuances of his job. For my final product, I was able to continue my research with Parkinson's Disease treatment and diagnosing methods. As my ISM journey continues, I plan to further my research in neurology and Parkinson's Disease, and I wish to secure my mentor and receive their feedback on all of my work so far. This will allow me to progress towards my goal of finishing my final product and hopefully giving a well-made presentation at the end of the year.
This week in ISM, I furthered my progress for my final product as well as for gaining a mentor. First, I interviewed another medical professional and scheduled another interview for later this week. Due to the harsh weather, school will most likely be canceled, and it is possible we miss another day or two of school. A significant upside to this is that I have more time to complete research for my final product. In my research interview, I was able to learn from another professional who specializes in dementia care. Additionally, I was able to learn about the intricacies of her job. For my final product, I was able to continue my research with Parkinson's Disease treatment. Once again, I am behind schedule in terms of getting a mentor as I am having terrible luck with medical professionals and their busy schedules. I plan on asking more professionals at Baylor Scott and White as the professional I recently interviewed is affiliated there. As my ISM journey continues, I plan to interview more medical professionals in neurology and eventually get a mentor to progress towards my goal of finishing my final product and giving my final speech at the end of the school year.
This week in ISM, I completed my original work reflection speech self-evaluation as well as another research assessment for my final product. In my research assessment, I focused on a specific research paper written by one of the neuroscience professionals I researched. It detailed the negative effects of a popular Parkinson's Disease treatment. It also detailed a possible solution and further research pertaining to this. Additionally, I am also continuing my search for a mentor. The search has been rough for a mentor as many medical professionals are very busy and are hesitant to mentor due to COVID. As I continue my ISM journey, I plan on doing more research pertaining to my final product topic. I also aim to look further into the topics that I researched in this past research assessment as I found it very interesting and pertinent to my specific area of study. Furthermore, in my original work reflection speech self-evaluation, I gained further insight into what I need to improve on for my next presentation and speech. I aim to add my mentor information to my presentation once I get one as well as further research. Lastly, I aim to continue progress towards my final presentation speech near the end of my ISM journey.
